Join Reclaim Philadelphia's Mass Liberation Task Force on Saturday, May 30th from 4:30-6pm for the Mass Liberation Virtual Taskforce’s meeting!

Our Mass Liberation Taskforce continues to tackle the issue of mass incarceration, policing, and community violence, but a lot has changed since our last meeting. Over the past 8 weeks, we have been working alongside other organizations to #FreeOurPeople from jails and prisons. Our work has gotten positive results, but we still face major challenges. These challenges include the fact that the police have resumed arresting folks for low level offenses, increasing the jail population and making it harder to slow the spread of COVID inside the jails, and the latest budget proposal aims to give an additional $14 million in funding to the police department while virtually every other city service is losing funding.

At our meeting, we will be sharing updates on all the work being done on policing, domestic violence, and decarceration. We will also have a discussion on the implications of an austerity budget on public health and safety.
