Last year, conversations about the future of policing in the U.S. reached the mainstream. Across the country, protestors demanded to DEFUND THE POLICE. More scrutiny was placed on the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and police contracts and the role they play in protecting violent cops that harm community members. The #CommunityControlNow Campaign has been working tirelessly on Philly's police contract negotiation process. When the city held its first ever public hearing on the police contract, despite fierce opposition from the FOP that included a lawsuit, Philly residents made it clear that we want more police accountability, more transparency, and stricter disciplines for violent cops.
