Reclaim Philadelphia’s Queer Liberation Caucus presents: Stonewall was a Riot, a new event series to examine Reclaim’s work through the experiences of queer people past and present. Our first event will look at the issues of Housing and Mass Incarceration, and how queer people have been impacted disporportionately by these forces. We’ll hear from queer leaders in Reclaim about their experiences, and join a panel of impacted queer people sharing their stories, with a queer historian to give context to these struggles, to reconnect us all, queer or not, to the radical roots of queer liberation at Stonewall and before. All are welcome to join us on Zoom on 6/27 at 2pm for Stonewall was a Riot.
At this meeting, we’ll have an update on our event series launch set for June 27th, titled “Stonewall was a Riot.” which will look at how the issues of Housing and Mass Liberation affect queer folks in the present-day as well as throughout our history, often disproportionately. We’ll also discuss and reflect on the relationship between the LGBTQIAA+ community and the police, including how we in QLC can address the harm inflicted on queer people by the police. We will also continue the discussion about caucus leadership and roles, and make social time as well! We value your input and inclusion, and we’re here to support each other, so please feel welcome to join your fellow Queers in Reclaim’s Queer Liberation Caucus on June 20!

Black Mamas Bailout (BMBO) began in 2017 when Mary Hooks and Southerners On New Ground (SONG) put out a nationwide call to raise money to post bail for Black mothers and caregivers. Every year since the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund (PCBF) has participated in the national BMBO campaign to free Black mothers and caregivers from Philadelphia jails before Mother's Day. This year, BMBO will run from April 5th through May 6th with a goal to raise $90,000 to free Black women, femmes, and gender non-conforming people. This effort aims to not only set people free but to highlight the importance that mothers and caregivers play in our communities.
In support of BMBO, Reclaim Philadelphia's Gender Justice Caucus is honored to partner with PCBF, the Dignity Act Now Collective (DANC), and Dancing Through Prison Walls for a screening fundraiser of Angee's Journey. Our goal is to raise $750 towards care packages and reentry support for those released, noting that every care package costs $30 to create.
At this meeting, we’ll update the caucus on plans for our event series launch “Stonewall was a Riot,” planned for June. We’ll also reflect on the upcoming primary election, and the issues of Mass Liberation, and the city budget. Please feel welcome to join your fellow Queers in Reclaim’s Queer Liberation Caucus on Sunday, April 18th!!

At this meeting, we’ll finalize plans for the video we are producing for Trans Day of Visibility on 3/31; if you are Trans and want to record yourself on the topic of Trans Visibility for inclusion in the video, come to this meeting! We will also begin planning the speakers series we are launching in June; in the aftermath of the destruction of the Gloria Casarez mural, our inaugural event in this series will center on gentrification of queer spaces and losing our history, and even our very community, to the forces of development and capitalism. We will also continue the discussion about caucus leadership and roles, and make social time as well! We value your input and inclusion, and we’re here to support each other, so please feel welcome to join your fellow Queers in Reclaim’s Queer Liberation Caucus on March 21st!
