WEST & SOUTHWEST
OVERVIEW
Over the last couple of years, our chapter has grown into a thriving team of member-leaders who are activating the people power of West and Southwest Philly.
In fall of 2025, we made the collective decision to focus our energy on housing. We’re deeply committed to staying accountable to our members and growing our leadership directly from our base, in order to build power that is durable and responsible to us.
Recent Success Stories:
Housing canvasses: In partnership with the Homes for All coalition and Council Member Jamie Gauthier, we canvassed dozens of our neighbors who live in affordable housing that is going to be sold soon. We informed them of their rights and responsibilities (many did not know that this was happening) and invited them to organize with us to protect their housing.
Signatures for Rabb campaign: Our members collected hundreds of signatures to get State Rep Chris Rabb on the 2026 primary ballot.
Built a steering committee: SC meets monthly to discuss our data, comms, turnout, and membership practices so we can reach out to and engage our neighbors effectively and sustainably.
MEETINGS
Every other month alternating Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm (Feb, June, Oct) and Saturdays at 2:30pm (April, August, December). See event list to RSVP for the next one.
